However, her husband Edward- a millionaire owner of multiple iron mines; a Michigan Congressman and Senator; a Negaunee Mayor; and a US Congressman; had a wandering eye. With her husband caught in an affair that resulted in a child, it appears that Mary embarked on her life-long quest for revenge against her accumulating enemies, with more than a dozen eventual suspected victims.Operating at a time when police departments had few or no detectives, when there was no sharing of police files, when autopsy tests for poisoning were not made unless there were sufficient suspicions, and where the deaths often occurred at several distant locations, Mary's crimes went undetected for over a century. However, it became clear that Nathan was purposefully causing Mary and Ed Jr. financial harm, and for this he would pay the ultimate price.The book also gives the likely cause and effect for several other suspected victims.It is written by an author who had several historical family members among the suspected victims.The word "suspected" has been often employed herein.
